GoodWeave International
GoodWeave International submitted a proposal for a $10,000 general operating grant. GoodWeave is laser focused on eradicating child labor in the global supply chain. The bulk of its efforts target the carpet weaving industry in South Asia which, as a region, accounts for half of the 168 million child laborers globally. In addition to carpet weaving, through its Sourcing Freedom program, GoodWeave is expanding its work into five new industries in Nepal and India. This includes an implementing partnership with Sustainable Agriculture Network to remove child labor from the tea supply chain. Recently, GoodWeave’s corporate partnerships with Target – which the West Foundation helped launch through a strategic administrative grant– was highlighted as an outstanding cross-sector partnership at the Skoll World Forum. Unrestricted funds will offset costs necessary to essential and effective internal operations.
